BMW is investing €30 million in expanding its paint shop at its Dingolfing site. Over the next two years, a state-of-the-art “center for special and individual paint finishes” will be built there.
From spring 2027, even more individual customer requests can be implemented in up to 300 different paint colors on an area of around 2,000 square meters. SAR is the responsible partner for the entire control technology in this future-oriented project.
The service package comprises six central systems:
• Process engineering (VT): Control of ventilation, workstations, and drying tunnels
• Conveyor technology (FT): Precise material flows for maximum efficiency
• Master control (LS): Central coordination of all processes
• Worker information system (WIS): Digital support with body information directly at the workstations
• Recipe management (RVS): Control of individual color programs
• Paint and application technology: Transport of the paint to be applied/sprayed to the workstation via a pneumatic tube system
• Supply and application for base coat and clear coat
The SAR control concept implements state-of-the-art production methods – from application technology and the BC combination cabin to the integration of automated guided vehicles (AGVs). A flexible buffer storage system ensures maximum efficiency in the production process.
With this project, SAR is underlining its role as a system partner to the automotive industry:
From planning and implementation to commissioning, we deliver customized complete solutions that increase efficiency, reduce material usage, and ensure the competitiveness of our customers.
