In August 2018, SAR was commissioned to modernise all process control technology at AVA in Augsburg.
The aim was to replace the existing and partially discontinued process control system with an up-to-date one.
SIMATIC PCS7 was selected as the successor on the basis of a virtualisation solution.
Control technology conversion during inspection shutdown
The first incineration line was converted to the new system in September.
The major challenge here was that the control technology conversion needed to be executed within a 3-week period during a normal inspection shutdown.
This time frame was fully observed by the experts at SAR Elektronic GmbH.
After the inspection, the system was recommissioned as planned. Various optimisation tasks are still in progress.
The additional incineration lines and auxiliary systems are gradually being integrated into the new system over the course of regular inspections.
